Altar Q, Copan, looks like a very large table. The top features a large inscription, followed by 16 of the 17 kings of Copan, surrounding it's side. The kings are depicted, sitting on their name glyphs. The lineage founder, Yax Kuk Mo, is shown, passing on the K'awil scepter to the last recorded king on the altar, Yax Pasaj. Since there are 16 kings, there are 4 kings on each panel.

On 5 Kaban 15 Sip, the lineage founder, Lord Kuk, grasped the K'awil scepter. On 8 Ahaw 18 Sip, he arrived, the lineage founder, Yax Kuk Mo. It was 12 Kin 7 Winal and then it happened there, on 5 Kan 7 Muwan, he arrived, ... the Western Kawil Serpent Lord, Elite ... arrived at Copan; on the 17th Katun 6 Ahaw, 13 K'ayab, he was exalted, on the stone mountain, Yax Kuk Mo. This was commissioned by Yax Pas, Lord White Flint, on 4 Winal 3 Kin, and then it happened there, on 5 K'an 13 Wo, he obtained the stone mountain
